ScoreByte: The Beatle That Never Was

In an extremely historical twist of fate, a man in Bootle, near Liverpool, UK, has managed to get his hands on a vintage letter written by Sir Paul McCartney to an aspirant for the drummer’s position in The Beatles, that was found between the pages of an old book the lucky guy picked up at a car boot sale.

In 1960, just before they were to leave for their Hamburg stint, The Beatles had contacted several drummers to play for them; Pete Best ultimately made the cut. But this letter, addressed to the unknown contender, charts what might’ve been. Not to mention, gives the wealthy Beatlemaniacs a real collectible to gun for.
