ScoreByte: Check out what’s been Kook-ing.

The flowers of Generation Y are, well, flowering.

This is a good time for Brit Pop, especially since most of what’s being produced across the pond has been inane in extemis. And with acts like The Kooks, we can almost rest easy and look forward. Their coming-together of their third album has seen a slew of single releases, including the title track, Junk Of My Heart.

But it’s Is It Me, a lovelorn ballad, that should grab the most attention, even though the video is fairly unimaginative with Luke Pritchard moping throughout with a guitar in his hands. But the song’s great, using just a simple melody for all that he’s got to say. Junk Of My Heart is the song to turn on those nostalgics, with that skiffle inspired rhythm section. The Beatles, anyone?
