Pink Floyd will reunite this year to play at the London Olympics, almost out of moral obligation to their contributions to British culture over the past century.
It’s been a while since they’ve gotten together on stage – the last time being at a charity gig in 2005, which itself was the first for 20 years. Since then, they’d stoically resisted the clarion calls to perform, waiting for a big enough occasion to present itself. And well, it doesn’t get much bigger than the Olympics.

This completes a fairly vintage line-up, with Paul McCartney tipped to be the one opening the show, that will exhibit Britain in general, and London in particular, to the world. And really, if there is one thing we love about the British – apart from fish and chips –its their rock idols.
