Stephanie Howie is a singer/songwriter based out of Los Angeles. She has always been involved with music performance in one way or another. She has managed to juggle working in the corporate sector while still being involved with music. She is working on her EP as an Indie-Folk, Singer/Songwriter under the moniker Ericka Howie. She has recently released her debut single “A Little Chance” and that’s what we are reviewing here.

“A Little Chance” is a well written song that has been performed admirably by Ericka Howie. The melody is strong and tuneful. Ericka Howie has an attractive vocal tone, and puts real feeling into the lyrics, but in a more restrained manner. The lyrics are interesting and meaningful with some harmonized phrases that truly stand out. Instrumentally, the song has a nice musical accompaniment that complements the vocal track perfectly. There’s a short and sweet guitar solo too, which is perfect for the song, tonally and stylistically. It’s completely in sync with the song’s mood. The performance quality is high throughout, both vocally and instrumentally. Overall, the song is distinctive and original, and definitely a sign of more wonderful things to come from Ericka Howie.

Whether painting small vignettes, looking inward at her own emotions, or addressing the issues related to love, Ericka Howie’s “A Little Chance” is an intimate listen, one that draws you into its musical and emotional orbit with the brushstrokes of a promising young artist. Watch out for Ericka Howie.
