Srijit Bhowmick aka Sri delivers much need positive vibes this lockdown
season with his single Love Date (Lockdown Version). The singer-songwriter seems to recall the outdoor days of spending time with his lover at different spots in his city in an acoustic chill pop style that’s reminiscent of artists like Jason Mraz and Rex Orange County, or even Raghav Meattle if we’re closer home.
However, even if his relaxed, calming singing style might sound a bit
exported, it’s his lyrics that add a swadeshi touch. Lacking any pretentiousness or over-the-top emotions, his song is simple and warm
as he croons about drunk pujo nights, having shwarmas, a first at a CCD, and other mundane exercises of existence that create memories for the future.
The acoustic production is very “vibey” in nature and is bound to be catchy once listeners get the hang of it. Here’s hoping that the muse behind the song is smiling somewhere in the corner on listening to Love Date.
Verdict- In more ways than one, Sri’s Love Date is not only a love letter
to his date but also the city of Mumbai.
