Song Preview :: Teri Meri Kahaani

Kunal Kohli is back with his next venture, Teri Meri Kahaani and I love the track played during its first theatrical trailer.

It has been almost 5 years since his last directorial debacle, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic. Starring Shahid Kapoor & Priyanka Chopra, Teri Meri Kahaani seems to be a crossbreed (actually, tribreed) wherein Mausam meets Anjaana Anjaani meets (the forthcoming) Dangerous Ishhq. Don’t believe me? See it for yourself.

BUT, this isn’t about the movie per se – it is about the amazing-sounding song interspersed within the trailer – titled Mukhtasar Mulaqat Hai.

Even though merely two lines of the song are heard, it has caught my attention outright. Sung by, I believe, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan or Wajid himself, the melodious voice, coupled with, the simplicity of the lyrics has floored me.

“Mukhtasar Mulaqat Hai, Ankahee Koi Baat Hai”

For those not in the know, Mukhtasar is an Urdu word which means short, small or brief.

You can hear the snippet from 2.18 minutes onwards in the trailer.

I must admit – the tune played during the inital part of the trailer is a bit similar to that of the title track from Karan Johar’s Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna – albeit, a slightly faster version.

Kunal Kohli’s films have always been backed by a melodious soundtrack. Think about it – from Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Hum Tum, Fanaa, Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic (relatively decent!) to his home production, Break Ke Baad – each film could boast of a decent (if not spectacular) soundtrack. I have equally high expectations from Teri Meri Kahaani’s music which has been composed by Sajid-Wajid.

Excited to hear the soundtrack? I am, for sure!

Teri Meri Kahaani  releases on June 22, 2012.

P.S. Aren’t these lines beautiful? :

“Naa jagte huye khwab dekha karo,
Naa chaho usse jise paa na sako,
Pyaar kaha kisi ka pura hota hai,
Pyaar ka pehela akshar adhoora hota hai !”
