Rudolf Schenker and Pawel Maciwoda, of legendary German hard rock band, Scorpions, will be touching base on our shores in January.
The entourage will also include band manager Alexander Malek, but their guitars and those searing tunes will be left behind. This happens to be a trip to play a couple of football matches.
The tour’s first match – so to speak – will be held in Kathmandu, when the trio get there on 13th January. From there they’ll transfer on to Kolkata, to feature in a Super Football League fixture on 15th January, at the behemoth Salt Lake Stadium there.
It will be the first time they’re going to be performing in India – on a football pitch, at least. Some of us, who’ve given up hopes of ever seeing them live at a venue nearby, might use the opportunity to get closer up and a tad more personal with the legends.
After all, for people who want to see them wring guitars, there’s always YouTube.
