Indie Review: Shayad Ke Main Zinda Nahin by Cha’bi

Reviewer Rating:

Cha’bi is an alternative/indie-pop band which was formed in 2017. The band released its debut single Raat ka Aayina in January 2018 via Apple Music. The track was a hit and after being launched via Apple Music’s ‘Hear It Here First’ program, it also found a spot on Apple Music’s Future Hits playlist, Indian Pop playlist, The A-List Indian Pop playlist and reached number 38 on the Alternative Genre charts. Cha’bi is a dynamic duo consisting of Indian Music Diaries editor Akshay Kapoor and professional music producer Paras Khanna. The duo hires guest and session musicians for its live shows. In this review, we will be taking a look at Cha’bi’s latest offering, Shayad Ke Main Zinda Nahin.

There’s no point beating around the bush here. Shayad Ke Main Zinda Nahin is a great song that has been performed exceptionally well by the dynamic duo of Cha’bi. The melody is strong with this one. The vocals are rich and soulful, infusing the real feel of the lyrics into the ears of the listener. The lyrics are deep and meaningful, complete with the thought provoking chorus Shayad Ke Main Zinda Nahin. The song is extremely rich instrumentally as well. The balance
between the instruments and the vocal track is awesome. They complement each other very well. The rhythm and beat of the song are quite simple but they do a great job holding the song together. The short but sweet guitar solo adds the proverbial cherry on the sundae. The performance quality is high throughout, both vocally and instrumentally. The production and
mixing leave nothing to be desired as well. Overall, the song is distinctive and original, proving once again that the success of Cha’bi’s debut single wasn’t a fluke. This is a great band with some great music and based on what we have seen so far, their music is alive and well, and here to stay.

Verdict: Listen once, listen twice, why stop there, this track is really really nice.
