Many, many years later, Hariharan and Leslie Lewis have decided to team up again. It’s only a supposition, but Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi getting back together and still being as competitive might have been a motivating factor.
Be that as it may, this is only a second coming still in its infancy, as Hariharan mentioned the “project is still in a nascent stage”. The general enthusiasm at the news, though, could be attributed to the fact that the general Indian public, laid low by the hip hop beats and glittery music videos since ‘The Cousins’ went off air, might be ready to sample their staple of Indo-Western fusion again, which nobody knew really existed till their debut in 1996.
The whole question of when and how still remains, since Hariharan will soon be getting busy judging a popular Malayali reality show. “There is exceptional talent out there. All they need is the right training and grooming to make it big”, says Hariharan.
If only he’d throw us listeners a bone too.
