Blek From Mumbai To Release Debut EP

Bombay based proto-punk revivalists, Blek, will be releasing their debut EP, Hexes + Drama And Other Reasons For Evacuation, on February 14th. It will be distributed via ennui.BOMB Records.

Blek have made a name for themselves by the virtue of having played the Thespo Festivals two years running, besides the memory of their winning act at the Ray Ban Never Hide Sound contest last month still very fresh. The same victory landed them a slot opening for Something Relevant and Pentagram at the grand finale.

Rishi Bradoo, Blek’s vocalist, believes it is incumbent upon them to bring out the groovier aspects of punk back into the limelight. “People always keep telling us that we’re grunge, but we’re trying to change that. We’re more punk based, and we want people to realize that it’s more dance oriented music. In the EP too, we start off with grungier numbers, but gradually move to more dance-y tunes”.

Whatever their calling is, the buzz is for real, and so is the faith reposed in them, says Rishu Singh of ennui.BOMB Records. “Theirs is very catchy pop-grunge music, if I could put a tag on it. I’m pretty sure they’re going to make waves wherever they go and become staples on the local music circuit”.

The tracklist on the new EP will be:

  1. Hexes + Drama
  2. Running Into The Wall Occasionally Helps
  3. Minus The Makeup
  4. Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou
  5. Fog + Strobe
