Allegro Fudge to feature at Chennai Live’s Purple Fest

It’s time for another edition of the Purple Fest! This month’s edition of the Purple Fest will feature Bangalore based contemporary folk-rock outfit Allegro Fudge.

For those of you who are blissfully unaware, Purple Fest is a monthly concert festival organized by Chennai Live 104.8 FM. The festival was introduced in April this year and has been consistently providing a platform for contemporary Indian Music. Note that Purple Fest happens on the last Thursday of each month in Chennai, at Blend – the Hi-Energy bar at Taj Club House, Mount Road.

About this month’s edition, RJ Rohan from Chennai Live 104.8 FM had this to say – “This is just the third month of The Purple Fest, but we have already received tremendous response from musicians and music lovers alike! As a radio station, we have always been promoting independent musicians…be it on-air or otherwise. And that is why, unlike a regular commercial station, we also play contemporary independent music on our shows”

This month’s Purple Fest will feature the Bangalore-based acoustic folk-rock outfit Allegro Fudge on the stage. Allegro Fudge is one of those bands that defy easy classification. Infusing elements from a mixed bag of musical styles such as Rock, Pop, Country, Celtic, Folk, Jazz, Classical and Metal, Allegro Fudge have created a sound of their own.  Primarily using the acoustic guitar and the piano, the band has a brilliant mellow sound with very impressive compositions. The band was founded by Jason Zachariah (Piano) and Joey Sharma (Acoustic Guitar) in 2007 and currently also includes Suhaas Patil (Vocals), Shalini Mohan (Bass) & Deepak Raghu (Drums).

Catch Allegro Fudge performing live on 28th June at Blend, the Hi-Energy bar at Taj Club House. The Purple Fest is a ‘free entry’ event and is ably supported by event partner Amaranta Entertainment.

Allegro Fudge’s debut album Maximum City features 11 original compositions in their unique style. Check out the acoustic version of Maximum City in this slick video:
