Kesha just spoke about her history with the LGBT community and her recent legal troubles. This emotional outburst came when she took the stage at the 2016 Nashville Equality Dinner on Saturday night. She was presented the Human Right Campaign’s Visibility Award.
“As many of you know I am going through some personal things that have been really intense and hard lately and I just want to say thank you for any support I have received,” Kesha said.
This speech comes just after she bid to file an injunction against Sony Music and Dr. Luke, the producer who she claims raped and abused her.
In her speech, she also talked about her personal experiences as a musician and life as a celebrity.
“Fame is strange and unnatural and I’m grateful for it mainly because it has put me in a position where I can actually do something positive for the world, and that is really the best part of it,” Kesha told the audience. “I love writing songs and I love making music, but this is the most rewarding part of it.”
