Metallica announces completion of a full length collaboration album with the legendary artists Lou Reed.

Earlier this year, Kirk Hammet of Metallica let slip that they were working on a project that was not really 100 percent a Metallica record. And on June 15th their website explained it all. They wrote that when Kirk was talking about a not-quite-Metallica album they were recording last month, he was talking about Metallica recording an album with Lou Reed. They announced on their website that they just finished recording the ten-song album with the crank and art-rock Godfather last week. The band was quoted as saying Ever since we had the pleasure of performing with Lou at the 25th Anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at Madison Square Garden in October of 2009, we have been kicking around the idea of making a record together”.

They went on to describe Lou Reed as “A true innovator and easily one of the most influential songwriters, musicians, and performers in rock music history. Lou’s work with the Velvet Underground and as a solo artist has such an enduring quality that he has long been revered and respected by us and many of our peers”

While the recording was quick, and they are ‘beyond excited’ and ‘can’t wait for you to listen’ to it, they haven’t decided on a release date yet.
