Music Award gatherings seem too frequent, which is probably why those with any sort of credibility still attached are treated with exaggerated respect. Besides, the bigger the award sponsor, more potent is the PR machine working to promote them, so they manage to get their share of the hype.
Anyway, the Uninor Mirchi Awards 2010, held in Chennai recently, was shorn of the initial hoopla. But with a panel that included Arivumathi, Sudha Raghunathan, Malathy Lakshman and the likes, the awards ceremony was assured of some kind of believable sheen.
