Daler Mehndi already has a fair few feathers in his cap – or turban, if you will. Now he’s gone on and recorded the official ode to India first ever Grand Prix, scheduled for 30th October.
The song, titled ‘Hum Mein Raftaar, Jeete Baar Baar’ – sounds like an inane pep talk, I know – has been sung by Daler, along with fellow artists KK, Lucky Ali and Leslie Lewis. The inaugural ceremony of the Indian GP will feature a live rendition of the song.
Daler Mehndi had earlier sung the theme songs to the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and the IPL team, Kings XI Punjab. He is obviously pretty chuffed about being a part of this first-of-its-kind motorsport extravaganza in India.
“Formula One is a big thing for India and we should be proud to be hosting it. I’m also very happy with the way the song has come up. Music connects all and motivates masses to move together. The song is in line with the racy event and would pump in some energy into the spectators”.
The car ‘racy’ theme song was released on Tuesday, corresponding with the official unveiling of the Buddh International Circuit, in time for the race weekend coming up.
Anyway, more than the testosterone-pumping, the song should be focused on not reminding the spectators how they’ve just spent an arm and a leg to watch a dead rubber of an F1 race.
