Inner Sanctum to open Metallica’s Bangalore gig

With 3 days to go for Metallica’s headlining gig at Bangalore’s Palace Grounds, Vladivar Rock ‘N India Band search on Radio Indigo finally found a winner, and claimants for an opening slot at the concert alongside Biffy Clyro; Inner Sanctum.

This came about after a protracted competition that included an audience poll-in at facebook.com/befreshed, where fans were able to gauge the prowess of the competing bands by viewing their music video samples online.

After getting ‘liked’ on Facebook, the bands headed to CounterCulture, on 25th October, for a face-off, old school style. Inner Sanctum came up trumps. They will now line up on the big stage to serve up some enticing Metal foreplay, before Metallica and their supersized amps make their way in.

“You know when you start out, you never imagine playing a show of this stature, so we’re very excited”, says Gaurav, vocalist for Inner Sanctum, before adding, “we’ve played the setlist over and over again and we just want people to enjoy
the show as much as they can”.

Bangalore bred thrash metallists, Inner Sanctum, have stayed conspicuous within music circles by the virtue of their classicized, violent death metal, and the various awards that have punctuated their career so far; Band Of The Year 2007 (Levis), Band Of The Year 2009 (headbangers.in), to mention a few.
They were formed in 2007, when musical colleagues, Chintan and Michael, decided to get together and form a band.
Their five member line-up was soon completed, after the inclusion of ex-Inviktus guitarist, Rajeev, in the summer of 2008. All that was left to do now was to record the big debut, which happened a year later, when Inner Sanctum stepped inside Resonance Studios and returned with ‘Provenance’. It garnered critical acclaim and made it to various top ten lists that year.

Biffy Clyro, the other opening act, are a more seasoned outfit from Scotland. Their last album, Only Revolutions, charted at no.3 in Britain, before going gold and platinum, besides winning the band a nomination for the Mercury Prize, which is one of UK’s highest music honors. Some of their noteworthy songs are The Captain, Machines, Saturday Superhouse. Get to learning the lyrics already!
