Scribe Get To Work

Scribe have led the way for the Indian hardcore metal scene for a while now. Their gut-busting tuneage has even acquired a distinctly ethnic edge, with them growling out things like ‘I Love You, Pav Bhaji’ against gruff metal riffs.

Now, after the smash hit Mark Of Teja from 2010, they have embarked on their third studio venture, which will be reverentially titled Hail Mogambo, presumably as a homage to Amrish Puri’s classic villainous turn in Mr. India.

The entire writing and recording process of the album takes place at producer Kuber Sharma’s pimped-up home studio, where he’s helping the band out with their sound. His own career highlights include working with Exhumation on their album, Consider This, and helping Pangea put together Snails Are When I Was Young (which we will be reviewing in the next edition of the magazine!)

The kind of unabashed applause that met ‘Mark Of Teja’ upon its launch has ensured sufficient pre-release hype for the new album. Back then, ‘Mark Of Teja’ had led Scribe to a hatful of prizes at the inaugural Rolling Stone Metal Awards – only to be topped off by a nominations at the MTV EMA Awards 2011 in Belfast under the international category.

That wasn’t their only international exposure, however, as soon after ‘Mark Of Teja’ hit the music stores and began an ascent up the independent charts, they were invited to play at the Inferno Metal Festival in Oslo, Norway, which in many ways, is the nerve center of this kind of hardcore metal.
