Sangam Kala Group is a prominent non-commercial registered cultural group which is engaged in the promotion of country’s artistic cultural tradition.
Sangam Kala Group, a National Singing Talent Hunt organization, has been conducting the Surtarang singing competitions at the national level since 1977. Sangam Kala Group has over 59 regional chapters from all over India , U.S. Australia, Thailand , Singapore and UAE. Each chapter shortlists their talent and bring them for the National competition in New Delhi .
The organization holds credit for discovering and launching the singing careers of artists like Sonu Niiggam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Anand Raj Anand, Peenaz Masani, Chinmayee, Akriti Kakkar, and celebrity reality TV contestants like Ishmeet Singh, Mohd. Toshi, Abhaas, Harshit, Arshpreet and the latest at Indian Idol are Rakesh Maini & Shivam, and child artists like Diwakar and Sonia. The national competition is usually judged by artists of great caliber like Ghulam Ali, Anu Malik, Alka Yagnik, Ismail Durbar, Himesh Reshammiya, Peenaz Masani, and Sunidhi Chauhan.
South Region had not been represented at the national level until they started the Bangalore Chapter of Sangam Kala Group two years ago. Both the years, Bangalore finalists managed to reach the National Semi-finals.
This year they wish to attract more of Bangalore’s talent and take them to the National Finals which is scheduled to be held at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi on April, 26th, 2012.
