As the current Hindi Independent Music landscape grows (has anybody called it Hindie music yet?), Shivansh Jindal brings a new colourful cocktail of sounds to the table with his single ‘Jeena Chahun’. A follow up to his previous singles, Laapata and Pata Nahin, this fun and energetic track does a really good job at blending the right amounts of EDM, Bollywood and Indie Singer-songwriter.
Produced by the titans of the industry Salim Sulaiman under Merchant Records, Shivansh and his Co-Producers Muheet Bharati and Anshuman Sharma bring a level of refined musicality and relatability that is worthy of the Global Stage.
A diverse sound is created with the blend of EDM breakdowns during choruses and cozy acoustic guitars. The music is very well produced and tells its own story through exciting, warm chord progressions and punchy electronic beats and breakdowns. A special mention needs to be given to the bass line in the second chorus. It brings a layer of extra groove that makes the listener want to get up and jive to it.
The melody sits perfectly on top of the track and all the notes fit the harmony like a glove. The elaborations on a core melody when the harmony takes a new direction is a really colourful display of musicianship and composition. Shivansh is known to write relatable lyrics and he stays true to that in this tune as well. He pens down amazing lyrics that puts out a message to encourage people to live their lives to the fullest and do it on their own terms.
And he does it in a way that perfectly complements the emotions evoked by the musical elements. To top it all off, these musical colours, lyrical messages and emotions are brought to life through a brilliantly made music video.
A well-written song with a well-made music video is a no-brainer. And Jeena Chahun is a testament to what is possible if we live our lives to the fullest. It’s a song that adds to the existing pool of music but also has that extra bit of colour through the unique blend of genres to help make it stand out from the rest of the bunch. The song and Shivansh are expanding the landscape in all the right directions and it has us on the edge of our seats for what’s to come.
Verdict: A colourful and energetic experience with a strong message that gets you thinking and dancing at the same time.
