ScoreByte: Tony Bennett – Oldest No.1!


So, here’s a piece of history that was made today. Tony Bennett became the oldest man to score a US number one album, with his album Duets II climbing atop the Billboard Top 100. The album, which features Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, and even the now-deceased Amy Winehouse’s last official recording, copped the only distinction Bennett had so far failed to achieve in a 60-year career, garnished with 14 Grammy Awards. In the interim, he was even lauded as the ‘greatest singer in the business’ by a certain Frank Sinatra.
