At 19, we could do enough damage, but being able to single-handedly write, record and release an album was probably out of scope for most. Not Harsha Iyer.
He has just completed and put out his debut effort, Curious Toys, for online release. The songs, available as free downloads at
http://harsha-iyer.bandcamp.com are indie pop, though Harsha clarifies his post-punk, rock ‘n’ roll influences too, in the shape of luminaries like Patti Smith, Elvis Costello and The Beatles.
This is very much a one-kid-band; Harsha claims to have played all the instruments, besides mixing and mastering it on his own. That alone would qualify this album as a stellar effort, but we’d rather hold back till you give it a listen yourself.
