Beginning with the Indi-pop band Silk Route in the late 90s, Mohit Chauhan’s voice and presence became synonymous with their most popular song ‘Dooba Dooba‘, which spawned a huge fan following amongst the Indian audience, young and old alike. Here is an unplugged version of the same, sung in a slightly different octave / scale, but great nonetheless:

Since then, Mohit has been active in Bollywood as well, having sung for many movies, some notable ones being Rang De Basanti and Delhi-6, for which he even won a Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer for the song ‘Masakali‘.

Most recently, he was known to have won (or broken) quite a few of his female fans’ hearts after crooning away on the ballads in Rockstar as ‘Jo Bhi Main‘, or for inspiring a revolution amongst the youth with ‘Sadda Haq‘. But one of his most underrated songs ever, we feel, is this one, from the movie New York:

Mohit’s voice can be heard in the songs of the recently released Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya and the upcoming Gali Gali Mein Chor Hai.
Once again, we wish you a very Happy Birthday, Mohit!
