Courtney Love has a fairly ironic name. Courtney Can’t-get-enough, probably. Or even Courtney McCrazy might work better.
Either way, she did it again last night, while performing with Hole in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as part of the SWU Festival. It started innocuously, as a few stray rants, including one about how she was the inspiration behind Smashing Pumpkins’ albums, Siamese Dreams and Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness. She also informed the crowd that she was allowed to use the word ‘fags’ on account of her supposed iconic status amongst gays.
Things inside Courtney’s head went ballistic when she spotted a fan waving a poster of her late husband and Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain. “I don’t need to see a picture of Kurt, asshole, and I’m going to have you fucking removed if you keep throwing that up”, she let the miscreant know. “I’m not Kurt – I have to live with his shit, his ghost, his kid every day. Throwing that up is stupid and rude and I’ll beat the fuck out of you if you do it again”.
Before storming off, she went broadside on Dave Grohl with “Go see the fucking Foo Fighters and do that shit”. It took a concerted chant of “Foo Fighters are gay”, orchestrated by guitarist Micko Larson, to get her back on stage for an encore.
She cared to explain the madness, though, stating “I don’t care what you listen to at home, but if a guy takes money off my kid’s table, fuck him”, which was presumably another follow-up on Dave Grohl. It still barely explained the rest of the fracas. Maybe she’s just been high.
