Avial hails from the backwaters of Kerala & have been forces of rock to reckon with ever since their formation in 2003. Their sound weaves rock riffs with traditional vocals. The songs emanate a rural Kerala & have been featured in mainstream Malayalam cinema. The line up features Tony John on vocals, Rex Vijayan on guitars, Mithun Puthanveetil on the drums and Binny Isaac on bass.
Phat Phish Records signed them on in 2008 & ever since; there has been no looking back. They haven’t just taken India by storm but their brand of native rock has garnered appeal internationally as well; most famously at The Sakifo (Reunion) World Music Festival in Mauritius where they were one among 40 bands, representing the country.

Chennai got a whiff of Avial nearly two years ago at Deepwoods, Madras Christian College. And it looks like the screams for more have finally been answered! A fitting finale to Score’s July Month of Rock, this is a concert you don’t want to miss.
