Searock-Semi professional Rock band competition, Waves’19

Searock is one of India’s biggest semi-professional rock band competitions, with its semi-finals and finals being held during BITS Goa’s annual cultural festival, Waves. Searock 2019 will be held from the 1st to the 3rd of November.

The first edition of Searock was held in 2008 with the intention of providing a platform for rock bands to showcase their talents and to rise up in the music industry. Every year, we have been achieving what we set out to do, which has led to Searock’s rise as one of the largest and most well-known band competitions in India. Searock has seen huge participation in all its past editions, with a number of participating bands going on to do exceptionally well in the music industry, the likes of which include Zygnema and Family Cheese. Not only does Searock give a head start to rock bands but also guarantees a perfect opportunity for rock music enthusiasts of the country to experience the same.

To participate in Searock, bands will have to submit their original work, based on which they will be shortlisted for the regional eliminations, which will be held across India.

Bands will battle it out to make it to the semi-finals and the ones which qualify for the finals will perform the next day during the English Nite of Waves, with the best act of the night being crowned the Winner.

We boast a final prize pool worth over 1 lakh rupees along with various prizes for the bands each step of the way, from record deals to huge discounts at music shops.

Last year, Searock went international with eliminations being held in Kathmandu. Searock ‘19 will continue the same and will cover eliminations in 10 cities.

This year, Searock aims to progress further into the underground realm of music in our country. It promises the audience enthralling performances by upcoming bands from across the country and a chance to celebrate rock music in some of the premier venues for rock performances.
