“It is always the same with mountains. Once you have lived with them for any length of time, you belong to them. There is no escape.” -Ruskin Bond.
These lines are never truer than when you’ve attended the Kasauli Rhythm and Blues Festival. The otherwise sleepy, off the map town in Himachal Pradesh comes alive to the sounds of music at this time of the year. And with its admirable past years’ record, this year too, the festival looks to be a promising event.
The biggest names in Independent music in India: Rabbi Shergil, Indus Creed and Indian Ocean have been a part of the festival. This year, the festival boasts of a starry line-up again with 8 very popular artists including Shilpa Rao, Leslie Lewis and The Local Train. This event could be your perfect holiday getaway, seeing as it always falls on the Easter Weekend.(This Year: March 25-27)
But more than just being your regular music festival, The Kasauli R&B Festival is a unique initiative by the Genesis Foundation. There are more than 150 children that the Foundation is in touch with, who are awaiting immediate medical intervention.(Fighting diseases such as cancer, cardiac disorders and thalassemia) Many of these children will be supported by the funds raised from this Festival.
Here is a glimpse of what you might expect, taken from the event last year.
