The elegant sounds of Bajirao Mastani’s soundtrack continue to dazzle listeners across India. Its easily the best tribute in a while to the long forgotten, yet most beautiful part of Indian music: the melody. The sound revives the magic of melodies which ricochet in our hearts for a long time. And to stand testimony to the lasting appeal of its sound, the Bajirao Mastani team bagged a total of eight prizes at the 8th Royal Stag Mirchi Music Awards, including album of the year, female vocalist for Shreya Ghoshal, sound arrangement, programming and arranging, raag-based melody and background score.
The soundtrack, when released had won many a praise for its brilliant blend of the polars: from Vedic Chants to verses from the Quran. The sound was intricately and beautifully carved into the whole film, reflecting each scene and setting in the best way possible.
‘The Times of India’ could not have put it better about the music: “The return of melody in modern Hindi film music, with strong influences of Sufi and folk, was unmistakable at the country’s most awaited music soiree.”
