Snoop Dogg wants a new version of American Idol or The X Factor to find “America’s hottest hood artistes“. His intention is to find raw talent and ability among those that don’t have the money. A profitable noble thought?
The rapper, who had his beginnings in a poor section of Long Beach in California and then went on to sell a million copies of his debut album Doggystyle in the first week of its release, has proved he remembers where he came from. He has proposed to launch a show to find artistes from deprived locales.
At a press conference in London where Snoop Dogg is promoting his new album Doggumentary he said, “The American Idol and X Factor shows, they’re great shows. But i think I need to make a show like that, that’s directed to the hood. To the artistes that don’t get the attention, that don’t have the money to make themselves representable. This raw talent and ability.” Snoop who comes from such a background was discovered by rapper and record producer Dr Dre and is considered one of his greatest proteges.
A well appreciated idea of course and not a very unprofitable one either for Snoop Dogg. His dream business ventures don’t end with a TV show though. He also plans to launch a chain of supermarkets to be called “Snoopermarkets.”
