Rabbi Shergill has been dropped out for this year’s Coke Studio, Pakistan. His Visa had been endlessly being delayed and had to be unfortunately dropped from Coke Studio Season 4. With Rabbi gone, there will no Indian artist featured this season.
Featuring some of the best talent of Pakistan, The Coke Studio in Pakistan has a huge fan following. The previous seasons had performances by some of Pakistans greatest, including Atif Aslan, Strings and Fateh Ali Khan.
The Coke Studio had invited Rabbi Shergill earlier this year in its first Indo-Pakistan collaboration. Rohail Hyatt, best known for his tenure with the Vital Signs is the man behhind The Coke Studio. He commented saying “We invited the talented Rabbi Shergill to the Coke Studio Platform but is visa got delayed. Although he managed to make it at the very last minute,we were not able to do justice to his music and the platform, given the timelines. Its’s just not the way we would like to welcome any outside to CS. So we decided to not use the music”.
This is sad news for all Rabbi Shergill fans who had all expected so much from the show. However, with Coke Studio kickstarting in India this year, it gives us all something to cheer.
