BAND BAAJA BACHE – A MUSICAL EXPEDITION

SANTOOR RECITAL – SATISH VYAS
TIME: 5:45 pm
Renowned Santoor Maestro Pandit Satish Vyas , blessed with a formidable musical background and training, thanks to both his father and his guru Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, continues to build an outstanding reputation as a soloist on the Santoor. Sit back and enjoy Pandit Vyas create mellifluous sounds out of the delicate strings.
THE OTHER PEOPLE

A Pop rock band from Mumbai that’s played all over the country for the last few years including touring with International artists. One of the most energetic and entertaining bands playing English music in the country currently!
RAGA BOYZ

The Band Raga Boyz is the 9th generation of Ustad Kaluji from Pakistan. This three brother band – (Wali Hamid Ali Khan, Nayab Ali Khan and Inam Ali Khan), is the transformation of legacy into modern singing while maintaining their forefather’s great contribution in eastern music.
SUSHEELA RAMAN

Susheela represents a fine fare of eclectic blends – rock, folk, blues and some of her trademark songs reflecting her unique style, where the Indian voice in her meets an entirely diverse musical landscape from all over the world.
FRIDAY – 10th February, 2012
LUKAS LIGETI

Austrian music composer and drummer, Lukas Ligeti will be playing on the Marimba Lumina, an electronic percussion combining African and Western Marimba playing styles.
AGNYA
TIME: 7:00 pm
A fusion band from Mumbai, Agnya is the coming together of 5 young eclectic musicians – Amrit Kapoor, Santosh Jayaram, Gurdip Singh Narang, Suraj Shetty and Mayank U Sharma . The band believes in collaborations thus infusing multitude of sounds in compositions.
PARVATHY BAUL – SUFI
TIME: 8:30 pm
Parvathy Baul is well known for her masterful solo rendering in the oldest style of Baul song and dance. She will sing songs of Bouddha Sidhas, Sufi and Fakirs of Baul.
SATURDAY – 11th February, 2012
NILADRI KUMAR
TIME: 6:00 pm
Niladri Kumar presents SitarFunk with special guests. The versatile sitarist comes together with Vijay Ghate, Deepak Pandit, Gino Banks, Sheldon D’Silva and Agnelo Fernandes to create a night of rock fusion.
THE RAGHU DIXIT PROJECT

The Raghu Dixit Project, is one of India’s foremost bands in its genre. Their rousing folk rock is not only the symbol of metropolitan India’s blossoming alternative music scene, but is also making waves internationally.

JAYATEERTH MEVUNDI

Jayateerth Mevundi is a Hindustani classical vocalist of the Kirana Gharana. His music is marked by impeccable taankari, delivered with effortless ease in the style of Bhimsen Joshi.
VISHAL-SHEKHAR
TIME: 8:30 pm
Vishal and Shekhar are among the leading music directors in the film industry today. They have had a number of successes including Jhankaar Beats, Om Shanti Om, Salaam Namaste, Dus, Bluffmaster, Tashan, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Dostana, Anjaana Anjaani, Ra.One, Dirty Picture and more.
ABOUT KALA GHODA
Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is an annual festival held in downtown Mumbai for usually nine days. During this festival, one can experience a kaleidoscope of music, dance, theatre, literature, street stalls, films, workshops for adults and children, visual arts and heritage walks.
HOW TO GET THERE
All those heading to Kala Ghoda can reach there either by road or rail. The two main rail heads are:
- CST station
- Churchgate station
From these stations you can take a taxi to Kala Ghoda.
BEST buses are also available from the stations with nominal fares.
If you take the road straight from CST you will reach Flora Fountain (Hutatma Chowk) and further down is Kala Ghoda and a left from Churchgate station will bring you to Flora Fountain and then to Kala Ghoda.
