Palm Expo 2018: A quick recap

The 18th edition of PALM Expo, India’s premiere platform for pro-audio, lighting, music technology and production, was conducted on the 31st of May in Mumbai. The massive exposition was a three-day event that saw some of the biggest manufacturers in both the international and local market convene to showcase their cutting edge technology on the expo floor.

The exhibition is held in high esteem as an industrial phenomenon, showcasing top-of-the-line products and a solid platform for networking, and connecting manufacturers to distributors and consumers. The 2018 edition saw people pouring out in large numbers to the Mumbai Exhibition Center. The sheer number of halls, arenas, demonstration cubes and performance venues at the expo were quite overwhelming, to say the least.

PALM had top notch professionals from all over the country and across the world, share their expertise and knowledge on a range of topics from pro audio & lighting, live performances, music production and also, touching on topics such as the roles of labels, AnRs, music publication and promotion.

The expo also had a bunch of A-list performers from the music scene showcasing their skills. The Palm Live Arena was one of the main attraction of the event, featuring live demonstrations of advanced sound and lighting systems. This was done through a series of performances throughout the three days, featuring some of the most popular and budding artists and bands from the country’s music scene. This is the 8th consecutive year that HARMAN has powered the arena with some of their newly launched products & solutions.

Another remarkable feature of PALM 2018 was the Demo Qubes. This feature enabled audio companies to demonstrate their high end speakers and PA systems with ease in a private cube structure. The Demo Qubes were ideal as they were located away from the other halls and did not disturb the other segments of the exhibition.

As you moved from the hall that accommodated the pro-audio, music production and performance products to the one that staged the professional lighting gear, the center of euphoria rapidly shifted from the ears to the eyes. PALM 2018 also saw an increased amount of attention from the local DJs because of the PALM DJ Championship, a national-level DJing competition being judged by some of most reputed DJs and producers.

At the end of the three-day extravaganza, visitors and tech-enthusiasts left the expo with a feeling of absolute awe and in anticipation of the next edition of the expo. In the July edition of Score magazine, catch our review of the most innovative products showcased at PALM 2018.
