Hariharan’s hiatus over?

Hari

Its been 10 years since Colonial Cousins came up with their own album, and Hariharan himself was a on a break from composing music as such. But all that is about to change. With “Saada” Hariharan makes his foray as a composer of Hindi film music.

Acccording to the Times of India, the Padma Shree award winner is currently working on his first hindi movie Saada. With this he joins the rank of South Indian musicians A.R Rahman, GV Prakash and Shankar Mahadevan who later composed music for Bollywood.

And more exciting news, his 14 year old band ‘Colonial Cousins with Leslie Lewis is back in business. Apparently with the haste with which they are working, the album is slated to come out by the end of the year!

But Hariharan has pondered out loud on the non-existence of market for independent albums in India. In an interview with IANS he complains that there is no platform since it’s filmi music that is played everywhere. This certainly doesn’t deter him from trying hard, and with a name like Hariharan behind the album, it surely will have at-least a few heads turning.
