Dhwani: A cool fusion groove

For a long time in India, classical fusion has been used to create easy listening music. From lounge covers to dreamy, psychedelic originals, fusion has traversed those spaces a lot. Yet much music in the genre is not so well known.

Here is a group of musicians who have pulled off a groovy and catchy riff in fusion with a cajon, guitar, sarod and bass. It is a part of a Fabindia compilation called ‘Heritage Hues’.

Abhishek Borkar – son and disciple of Pt. Shekhar Borkar, Abhishek is a CCRT scholarship holder and an All India Radio artist. A highly accomplished and skillful musician coming from the rich tradition of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, he is one of the finest young Sarod exponents in the country today.

Keshav Iyengar – A bass player who also meddles in playing guitar and composition, Keshav has worked as a freelance bass player with many artists and bands over the years, including being a part of shows such as Coke Studio at MTV and Satyameva Jayate. He has recently composed music for a film, Weather

Report, directed by Ravi Davala – professor of direction at the FTII, Pune.
