And the Music Award goes to…

Billboard-music-awards-2011-600x337

The 2011 Billiboard Music Award’s big winners were Justin Bieber and Rapper Eminem. Sweeping six awards each, Eminem received ‘Top Artist’ and ‘Top Male Artist’ and the teen sensation won the ‘Top New Artist’.

The Billboard Awards is based on Nielsen data for sales, downloads and airplays. And this year, the awards were dominated by ‘Baby’ Justin Bieber and Eminem. Unlike the other awards The Billboard Music Awards are purely based on ratings, the winners are almost easy to guess. The only unpredictable thing this year was the surprise performances by Beyonce, Lily Wayne, Rihanna and Black Eye Peas.

The ceremony was opened by Rihanna, along with Britney Spears with their “S&M” remix which was the higlight of the show. The Black Eye Peas who won the Top Duo/Group,kept the audiences dancing to their most popular numbers like ‘Boom Boom Pow’, ‘I Gotta Feeling‘, etc.

The Love story girl, Taylor Swift took away the Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Country Album and Top country Artist. “I just remember I used to watch the Billborads awards and see my heroes like Shania Twain and Faith Hill win these now.I’m just having the best time doing this. I want to thank Country Radio and the fans for letting me do what I love more than anything in the world”, commented the country music singer on receiving her award.

Lady Gaga bagged the Top Dance Artist, Top Dance and Electronic Album and Top Pop Artist.

This year’s Billborad Millenium Award was given to Beyonce for her musical influence. She was also recognised as a role model for women.

Justin Bieber showed great exuberance when he kissed his girlfriend Selena Gomez after it was announced that he had won the Top New Artist. Are we on the verge of another surge of sobbing Justin Bieber fans posting up their hearbreak stories on youtube. We sincerly hope not.
