IFP (previously known as India Film Project) has been one of the leading creativity X culture spaces in India for the past 13 years.
It started off as a small project by Ritam Bhatnagar in 2011 in Ahmedabad. Slowly, it expanded and it became as we know it today, IFP.
IFP conducts IFP 50 Hour Challenges every year. These challenges test your creativity, push you beyond your limits, and make you a better artist than before. The only thing that might scare you off is 50 hours.
What are these 50 hour challenges?
Though IFP started with 50 Hour Filmmaking Challenge, it soon grew and became one huge place for all the artists. As of today, in 2024, they conduct 6 challenges with several categories in it.
Those six challenges are
50 Hour Filmmaking Challenge, 50 Hour Music Challenge, 50 Hour Writing Challenge. 50 Hour Performing Arts Challenge, 50 Hour Design Challenge, 50 Hour Photography Challenge
What is the 50 Hour Music Challenge?
In the 50 Hour Music Challenge, you need to write, sing, compose, mix, master and create in just 50 hours. The challenge has categories in it
- Rock
- Pop
- Hip Hop
- Folk Fusion
- Electronic, and all these categories come with sub-genres that you can explore and create your music.
Who are the juries of the 50 Hour Music Challenge?
This year the challenge is being judged by the best in the industry. The first one in the list is Arivu, the singer who claimed his stature and appreciation with his 2019 release Enjoy Enjaami. After that he worked in several films. He wrote and sang songs for the films like Jai Bhim, Enemy, Selfie, Jawan (Tamil & Telugu), Soorarai Pottru, and many more. His song Maaveerarukku Maranamila in Family Man S02 was a superhit.
The next in the list is Darbuka Siva, the man who composed the music of films like Enai Noki Paayum Thota, Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee, Kaadhal Konjam Thookala, Rocky and many more. His compositions are versatile and dynamic and a perfect blend of Tamil folk music with contemporary sounds.
We also have Shor Police, the brainchild of the music composer & producer Clinton Cerejo and the singer Bianca Gomes. Clinton is known for his songs in a lot of Hindi films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Omkara, Karthik Calling Karthik, Wake Up Sid and many more. Bianca Gomes has sung songs in English Vinglish, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Dev D and several others.
And lastly, the music sensation of 2024, Sushin Shyam! In this year itself, Sushin has given back-to-back hits in Malayalam Cinema, Aavesham & Manjummel Boys. He is also known for his banger compositions in Kumbalangi Nights, Kururp, Romancham, Minnal Murali and so many more. He received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director for his soulful album of Kumbalangi Nights.
Who can participate in the 50 Hour Music Challenge?
Anyone who loves music, loves to create music can participate in this challenge. This challenge makes you think out of the box, makes you think of techniques that you might have never used before, and create a song in 50 hours. The challenge is totally online and it does not matter in whichever city you are in. The submission is online, so you can wholly be at the comfort of your home and create good music.
