Rumors of the Nightingale of India – Lata Mangeshkar’s demise are absolutely false and baseless.
Yesterday, popular social networking site, Twitter, was plagued by tweets a.k.a messages of the sudden demise of India’s leading female playback singer, Lata Mangeshkar.
It was rumored she’d passed away following a heart attack at Mumbai’s Jaslok hospital.
Having originated via Blackberry Messenger IMs, this news spread like wild-fire and soon enough, Bollywood folk and well-wishers took it upon themselves to verify the news. Upon ensuring its falseness, tweeple (People who use Twitter) immediately cleared the air.
Lata ji herself dismissed all such messages by posting from her official Twitter account:
‘Namaskar. Pls don’t believe any rumors which are doing the rounds about my health & well-being. All is well, by the Grace of God.’
We are so glad the news is false and wish for her longevity and shame on the person who founded these rumors.
